Please allow me to introduce you to ROCKT, a new nonprofit* bringing theater to kids. ROCKT stands for Right On Cue Kids Theater. Our mission is to provide kids real theater experiences that help them to develop and practice many of the skills required to be successful in the world. On the surface, it looks like they are just learning how to speak, sing and act. However, below the surface, they are learning how to work as a team, how to master a task through rehearsals, how to step into their roles and project themselves, and how to have fun while working hard. Above all, they learn to have confidence in their own ability to master a task. As a local dance shop, you know how important it is to provide opportunities to let kids perform and experience different facets of theater.
ROCKT offers theater programs to various communities, such as after-school programs, church and youth organizations, and public schools, to name a few. With your support, we focus on kids who have little or no access to theater. And we provide all of this free for the participating kids. Our first production will be Jungle Book Kids! This is a great Disney show that sparks the interest of a lot of kids. We are partnering with the A.E. Finley YMCA in Raleigh, to produce this show. A.E. Finley will be offering our program through their subsidized summer camp program. This means the YMCA is able to offer this experience to children from various economic backgrounds. Most of these kids would not get this opportunity if we weren’t providing it.
And that is where YOU come in! You have the ability to help these kids get individual attention and transform before everyone’s eyes—especially their own! This is the first of many opportunities that are being planned for local students, and your support of this important first step will help us grow to support as many communities as possible. There are a lot of kids out there who would love to be a part of a musical. With your help, we can bring the theater to them! We are currently holding a Kickstarter campaign to fund this first show. There are great backer rewards for both individuals and for businesses.
Please give today and please give generously and THANK YOU!
Want to help?
That’s GREAT!!! We’d LOVE to have you come help us! Don’t have a clue what you can do? No worries! If you have eyes, ears, or hands, you can help. We have lots of things that need to be accomplished, especially with our big shows. Please fill out our volunteer survey so we can get you started. The survey helps us to identify types of activities or roles you may be interested in filling with us. You can fill out the form and drop it off at a rehearsal, or email the answers or the form back to address listed on the form.
